I feel like this is some of the strongest material Ive written since Storm. Lyrically very dark this is not a cheery album by any means, musically very hooky with a pretty wide range of BPMs. I think hope that Mourn will become a fan favorite. Assemblage 23 - 30 Kft. With his previous two records, Assemblage 23's Tom Shear has proven to be one of the most consistent artists in EBM. Though it varies little from Defiance and is just a notch below Failure in terms of impact, Storm can certainly stand on its own. The encompassing Human begins the album with the words There have been times throughout my life when I fell so farI thought I'd never stand againI watched my dreams depart. From there, Storm doesn't let up. Listen to music from Assemblage 23 like The Noise Inside My Head, Let Me Be Your Armor & more. Find the latest tracks, albums, and images from Assemblage 23. Prior to starting Assemblage 23, Shear experimented with music under the name Man on a Stage, beginning in the early 1980s. Most of Shear's music at this point was instrumental, as he lacked the confidence to sing the quality of the music itself was highly questionable by his own admission. Shear eventually began to add vocals to his music at the same time, Shear was also playing bass in a punk band called the Advocates&qu read more. Storm, 2004. Human, 05:43. Skin, 06:54. Storm takes a much different approach from Defiance, using heavier beats and loads of symphonic synth sounds, making this release one of the best. The first single, Let the Wind Erase Me, takes on its own with an odd time signature and melody. Ground, the second single brings out the best in Tom. Not a single bad track on the album. Again, Tom shows that electronic music indeed has a soul, and should never be underestimated by the guitar/bass/drum world. 5/5
