Notes

Chapterhouse: Blood Music retranslated by Global Communication into Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis.

Originally this was released as DEDCD 011S and given away with initial copies of the Chapterhouse album "Blood Music" (DEDCD 011) in October 1993. It was reissued in December 1993 with a new catalog number (DEDCD 013). These early releases contained a sample of C3-PO at the start of Track 2, which was omitted in the 1998 re-releases due to potential lawsuits from George Lucas stemming from Pritchard's and Middleton's use of Jedi Knights as one of their aliases. Delta Phase has also been shortened by 8 bars along with slight, mostly unnoticeable tweaks, to the other tracks, according to Pritchard on the Reloadonline Forums.

Pentamerous Metamorphosis is a retranslation of an album by Chapterhouse called Blood Music that has only been available as a promotional item in England until now. So, what we have here is a remix of a dance-pop album originally recorded by a bunch of shoe-gazers back in 1994. Interestingly, the document amplifies the lush melodies of Chapterhouse's conventional rock record and turns it into a thing of rare beauty. Eliminating most of the band's vocal tracks and de-emphasizing guitars in favor of shimmering keyboards and aquatic-sounding synthesizers, this is quality a. Your Rating. The Global Communication sound is notably colourful and rich in melody, and sits comfortably alongside the music made by their early 90s contemporaries such as The Black Dog. 76:14 is an upbeat cathartic set which intersperses Pritchard and Middletons ethereal atmospherics with forays into downtempo and a couple of more rhythmically driving numbers. On this album the beat-driven shoegaze style of Chapterhouses Blood Music LP also 1993 is spun out to create mind-expanding sonic vistas - one can detect influences from Brian Enos ambient output, the 80s synth-pop of Talk Talk and David Sylvian and seminal sci-fi movie soundtracks like Blade Runner in the mix here. The band's second album Blood Music, stylistically different, was released in 1993. Singles from the album, She's a Vision and We Are the Beautiful, were relatively successful. Some copies of Blood Music included a bonus disc retranslated by Global Communication, called Pentamerous Metamorphosis that was withdrawn due to a sampling lawsuit, but later reissued in a slightly altered version. The band then released no further new material other than a double album, Rownderbowt in 1996, compiling their singles, various B-sides, rarities and unreleas. Virtually identical to the original 1993 release on Dedicated, except for one minor difference- the C3-PO sample from the film "Return of the Jedi" is missing from the beginning of track 2. (Removed, no doubt, following the George Lucas dust-up over the use of the name "Jedi Knights"...)
