I'm really not sure what's the reason for this, and I'm pretty sure Yamaoka doesn't consider these as official releases himself, if anyone's gutsy enough to directly ask him is opinion on Twitter or Instagram... That could be interesting to read. He was credited on the original CD releases, so there's something else imo.

Artwork is okay I guess. I just wish that Mondo would use more official artwork on their releases. Sounds is good though.Waiting for Silent Hill 3 next, it's my favorite game in the series and I hope the artwork will be less bland than this.

I don't get at all all the negative comments about the artwork. It could have been better but it's decent, and reminiscent of the game. Unlike the fucking disgrace they did on Castlevania IV, and so many other of their releases. Remember that first of all, Mondo is a Art Gallery, not a label, visuals first, sound comes last, and their visuals are questionable most of the time to say the least, even if they did some nice ones (Metal Gear Solid or especially Contra III was amazing).There's far worse than this cover art, we can estimate ourselves happy with the result when I see their catalogue overall.

While the packaging art is drag and generic I can gladly say the music is here in a good showing for the most part.We get an atmospheric soundstage utilizing the stereo well for most tracks but not all. It has power and especially depth behind it which fits nicely in this well resolving sound.Some dynamics might not be fully drawn out and separation could be better. Bass too is not as full as Id like it in places but for the most part its decent.Something I did not quite expect however is the vinyl quality here. Its got only very soft crackling at worst and a couple pops over the music on my copy. There is no complaint on sound quality and I'm satisfied with the chosen artwork as well. This all could have been much simpler if you ask me. Overall this is a very nice release and I'm just hoping that Mondo won't stop issuing the remain episodes. Especially part 3 and 4: The Room.

Good things first: I love this OST and I was waiting for many years fr someone to release it on vinyl. Also - mine copy has perfect sound quality. 10/10Now not-so-good things: Cover art - well, this is definitely missed opportunity, It easily could have been epic, and what has been chosen is so generic.. Pity. I like color ov vinyl #2, not so much the "fog" one.But after all, it's a solid release. It sold out so quickly, but there will be a black vinyl edition avaliable in other shops as well soon.

I wanted mine packaged in a certain way but they didnt do it. Fortunately mine arrived without seamsplits. Also cost around 70$ in the end, records cost 35$.

My copy arrived with a seamsplit in the jacket. Mondo replaced the jacket. Side A has an imperfection that creates a pop consistently on track 2, even after cleaning. It's also quite noisy. However! The noise adds to the atmosphere of the score, so it fits. DO NOT PAY OVER LIST PRICE FOR THIS. You'll be ripped off. I'm glad I only paid $35. I am now double thinking any future Mondo release.

GZ does a good job! They totally botched the Pyschedelic Furs reissues last year though with swapped labels. I suppose that's because Columbia told them not to take care in producing their product, and they didn't just slip-up what with how much product they're getting out the door regularly. They're doing a good job, aside from things like that.I mean, as long as you have good equipment it shouldn't really matter how good or bad anyone told them to conduct their business. There's no such thing as bad records, only bad equipment as they say.

Sounds excellent! Yamaoka's virtuoso ambiance and industrial soundcrafts shine through with a live patina. Nice, nice nice. Great release like the first one. Hoping 3 and 4 (and Origins, and yes, Shattered Memories) come on down the pipeline eventually. My only gripe is the cover art; it's so typical video game cover compositionally. With a wealth of imagery and such to draw from the game it's a lil eh they went with back-turned-to-viewer-and-floating-heads but it is what it is. (a silly thing to note for those of you a little too waist-deep in the world of internet nonsense, inner gatefold Pyramid Head is in a pose very similar to the Virgin/Chad meme which I cannot unsee and those aware hopefully won't unsee either) The little back cover spot-varnish "surprise" is a nice touch though and gave me a smile. Overall pretty perfect, don't miss it, etc. Here's hoping Mondo has another run made for those who missed out.

Great sounding pressing, my copy is dead silent there's not a single bit of surface noise. I gotta say the one thing that is kind of lackluster about this pressing are the colors. Specifically the red black swirl, if you're not looking closely it's easy to miss the redness of the LP it sorta just looks black at first glance. I also noticed that there wasn't a single reference (as far as I can tell) to the actual composer of the soundtrack Akira Yamoaka instead it just says the music is by Konami, which is pretty shameful if you ask me. But in the end that doesn't really matter, it's all about the sound and this pressing delivers!

About 8 / 16bit soundtracks, Konami Kukeiha Club is the name of their sound team, including all their artists. There was no soundtrack done by a single person for Konami Games back then, or almost, so it makes sense to use this to include all the group. For Silent Hill, Yamaoka is the only person behind the composition, and he was credited on the previous CD releases, just like it should be. I'm pretty sure Konami just fucked him up for whatever reason about these reissues, I don't know if he gave an answer how he feel about these vinyl pressings but I'd not be surprised that he consider these as bootlegs actually, speaking as the original artist.Anyway, it's both a disgusting move from Konami, but also from Mondo, they simply don't care much about their soundtracks and that's the proof, take Data Discs for example, not only they're working directly with some of the composers, but they also include liner notes from them in their releases (Streets of Rage 3 for example). Yamaoka is touring everywhere with his band and is not at all difficult to reach or to contact in english, I'm pretty sure he would have been more than pleased to help for these reissues but Konami probably prevented it, and Mondo, as usual, don't give a single fuck since their customers are 75% record flippers / instagram posers and 25% people owning a turntable, enjoying their records.

I agree that it's silly, but Konami doesn't allow specific composers to be credited on their soundtrack releases for some reason. You'll see that all retro OSTs are also credited to Konami Kukeiha Club and not the specific composer(s).The exception is Sunset Riders, which had the composer credited. However, iam8bit haven't released anything Konami since, so I'm getting a feeling that they didn't run the decision to credit the composer by Konami.EDIT: Since this was first posted iam8bit have released the TMNT IV soundtrack from Konami, so I guess they're not in the dark. But no specific composer is credited on this one either.
