Melissa Manchester born February 15, 1951 is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Since the 1970s, her songs have been carried by adult contemporary radio stations. She has also appeared on television, in films, and on stage. Manchester was born in the Bronx, a borough of New York City, to a musical family. Her father was a bassoonist for the New York Metropolitan Opera. Her mother was one of the first women to design and found her own clothing firm, Ruth Manchester Ltd. Manchester hails from. Melissa Manchester is the self-titled and the eighth album release by singer-songwriter Melissa Manchester issued on Arista Records the first week of October 1979. Although it was reported in August 1979 that Manchester was recording a followup to her 1978 album release Don't Cry Out Loud album with the title cut's producer Harry Maslin at Cherokee Studios the tracks on the Melissa Manchester album were all recorded at Web IV Studios in Atlanta in September 1979 with local producer Steve Buckingham. The title was actually Singin'. including quotations marks and an ellipsis, and the three dots might have been meant to stand for in the Rain, from the evidence of the classy Kosh-designed cover picture. But the title also signaled that Melissa Manchester, previously known primarily as a singersongwriter, was acting mostly as an interpretive singer on this collection, a point also hinted at in the name of her sole original composition, No One's Ever Seen This Side of Me. Melissa Manchester's SINGIN' is another in Wounded Bird Records' bizarre reissue campaign. Originally released in 1977, it was issued on CD in Japan a few years back, but never before available in the U. on CD until now. This is a fantastic collection of songs written mostly by other writers only one track on the original album was written by Melissa Manchester. It contains one of my all-time favorite Melissa Manchester recordings, her cover of the Beach Boys' The Warmth of the Sun. Sound quality is pretty much the same as the Japanese CD issue, which is exc. Listen free to Melissa Manchester Singin'. Sad Eyes, I Wanna Be Where You Are and more. 9 tracks 35:47. and the 1978 album Don't Cry Out Loud which was mostly original material despite the Top Ten hit title cut not being written by Manchester, the Melissa Manchester album featured five Manchester originals and five tracks of outside material. The songs written by Manchester included two collaborations with Carole Bayer Sager who had been Manchester's regular lyricist for over five years: the tracks It's All in the Sky Above and How Does It Feel Right Now, and also I Know Your Love Won&apos.
