Monochrome Pensive The Contortionist represents fearlessness in musical expression, designed to please artist as much as audience. This band makes progressive metal music, anchored in the heavy sounds that first drew the individual players to the stage, yet unmoored by convention or Clairvoyant, the bands distinctive fingerprints remain, even as their atmospheric flourishes broaden to encompass. Clairvoyant is the fourth studio album by Hoosier progressive metal band The Contortionist, released on September 15, 2017, through eOne. The album builds on the progressive metal approach heard on their 2014 album Language, and features almost no screaming whatsoever. Vocalist Michael Lessard explains this decision in an interview with Revolver: Screaming didnt really suit any of the songs. There is screaming on the album, but its very textured, so its not in your face and you have to really listen to pick out the spots. Skyrocketing bursts of oscillating guitar leads layer an ominous and dark undercurrent of rhythm. While hardcore punk may be the sound that rules the day in The Contortionist hometown of Indianapolis, it is the bands signature brand of forward thinking heavy metal that has made them stick out as hometown favorites. Although Clairvoyant is a bit less diverse and flamboyant than its predecessors hell, even the cover is appropriately black and white, its probably the sextets most unified and touching outing to date. A beautiful kind of tragedy, despair, and hope runs throughout the record thanks to how exceptional each member is not only in his own role, but in working together toward a ceaselessly powerful statement. As a result, the LP demonstrates how incredible The Contortionist is no matter where they fall on the spectrum of extreme lightness and darkness. album: Clairvoyant 2017. Return To Earth 9. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2014's Language, Clairvoyant is the Contortionist's fourth studio long-player and second outing to be released through eOne and Good Fight Music. The nine-song set continues to track the group's transition from palm-muted djent enthusiasts to atmosphere-driven post-rockers, a change most apparent on the album's aptly named lead single Reimagined
